Corbett National Park

Corbett National Park is located in the state of Uttranchal, India. The part is part of the Corbett Tiger reserve which livs in the foothills of the Himalayas with in the district's of Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Almora and Binjore. Corbett Tiger reserve covers and area of about one, 300 sq-km including about 500 hundred sq-km of core area and 800 sq-km of buffer area. The core area forms the Corbett National Park while the buffer area contents the Sonanadi Wildlife sanctuary and reserve forests. Corbett Tiger reserve forms the catchments area of the Ramganga, a tributary of the river Ganga.

Corbett National Park was established in 1936, as the Hailey National Park. After Independence in 1947, the part was renamed the Ramganga National Park. In 1957, the part was named the Jim Corbett National Park in memory of the legendary hunter and conservationist, who was largely responsible for making out the park boundaries and helped in setting up the park.

Every year 70,000 people visit Corbett National Park from India and abroad. The park is only open from mid November to mid June because monsoon rains wash away the roads during the other times of year. It is only by November that the roads are repaired and can be used again. The head quarters.  
Corbett is a haven for Tigers as well as its prey, which include four kinds of Deer, Wild Boar and some lesser-known animals. Some of the smaller residents of the park are Himalayan Palm Civet, Indian Gray Mongoose, Common Otter, Blacknaped Hare and Porcupine. Elephants are among one of the main attractions of Jim Corbett Park.
The best visiting season of Corbett is from November 15 to June 15. Corbett remains closed between June 16 and November 14, when the monsoons flood the river beds and cut the fragile road links.
