Ranthambore

Situated
in Eastern Rajasthan, where the Aravali Hill ranges
and the Vindhyan plateau meet, the Ranthambore
National Park was once the hunting preserve of the
Maharaja's of Jaipur. The rivers Chambal in the
South and Banas in the North bound the Ranthambore
National Park.

Six
man made leg are the central focus of the park and
many perennial streams criss-cross the enter park.
The Ranthambore National Park has internal drainage
and has no link up with any river system, even
though too rivers bound the park in it's North and
South side.

Flora

The
Landscape is doted with ancient Banyan Trees,
Dhok and People trees, clusters of mango trees
and crisscrossed with evergreen belts. The
terrain is made up of massive rock formations,
steep scarps, perennil lakes and streams and
forest suddenly opening up into large areas of
Savannah. The terrain of Ranthambore Wildlife
Sanctuary fluctuates between impregnable
forest and open bush land. The forest is the
typically dry deciduous type, with Dhok, being
the most prominent tree.

Tigers
in Ranthambore National Park

There
are about 36 tigers and 40 leopards in the
Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. Observing the
activities of this mighty and powerful
creature is a lifetime experience. Tiger can
be spoted easily in there natural habited
during daytime particularly at the confluence
of three lakes-Padam talab, Raj Bagh Talab and
Milak Talab. The park also has a large number
of panthers seen in plenty after the tigers at
Kachida Valley and commonly sing at the
outskirts of the park.

The
most fascinating and most popular execration
taken from the national park is to the
Ranthambore fort. This fort was belt by the
Chauhans in the 10th centaury. The fort is
located at a very strategic position between
north and central India and hanse it was
always coveted by many rural. The fort is
famous for the 'Johar' (suicide by immolation
to escape humilitaion) by Rajputh women in
1301AD during the siege by Ala-ud-din khilji.
The temples and tanks at to the beauty of the
fort. The seven gates and massive curtain
walls, crowning a fall-topped hill presents a
majestic view.

Climate
in Ranthambore

Located
in Rajasthan, the Ranthambore Reserve is
influenced by deserd type of climate. The
vegetation, which is mostly dry and deciduous,
provides good cover for the animals. The
climate is generally dry but annual rainfall
is enough to sustain the park population. In
fact, Ranthambore is one of the green patches
in the otherwise barren landscape of the
state.

Ranthambore National Park is open for visitors
from October to June. But the best season to
visit Ranthambore is from November to April.
This is time when animals can be easily
spotted.
