The
best thing about this sport is the
almost equal distribution of rock
climbing destinations in India. Rock
climbing is very interesting and
adventurous sport which provides a
large platform to perform.Learning
rock climb is very easy and
interesting. There is no need of big
muscles as shown in Hindi movies-
rather it needs well balanced mind and
slight physical fitness. A rock is
climbed by mind & body both. Rock
climbing is a test of strength,
concentration and coordination as well
as skill and technique. Balance also
determines the value of strength by
how much energy you spend actually
climbing.
Sheer rock faces, ideal for rock
climbing, can be found in many areas.
The Aravali hills have good climbing
faces at Dumdama, Dhauj and Nuh, all
situated near Delhi.
A physically exhausting sport, rock
climbing is also one of the most
challenging. |

A
rock is climbed by two method only :
-
Free
hand rock climbing
:
Free
hand rock climbing is done on a type and
angle of rock where security for caliber
is not needed. A rock which provides
ample holds for climber to go ahead.
This method is only for short distance
climbing which may go upto 40-50 feet
maximum.
-
Aided
climb or Artificial rock climbing :
This
is what one sees on 'Discovery' and
other channels. As the name indicates,it
means 'with the help of some aid'. Some
technical equipment is needed for this
type of rock climbing and proper
knowledge and training is there to use
the same.

Rock
climbing can be undertaken throughout the
year. India is a vast country with different
geographical zones. India is a vast country
and different parts of the country have
different climatic conditions. Although you
can practice rock climbing in most parts of
the country, the fact remains that the
Himalayan region provides the best
rock-climbing challenges to the
professional. The ideal months to practice
this sport in the Himalayas are from April
to June. October to February. Monsoons

If we want to be safe, the logical
conclusion is to stop climbing. And if you
want to be safe you should stop reading
right now, and carry on with your life as if
nothing happened. Climbing is relatively
safe, but that shouldn't stop all climbers
from taking precautions. Climbers are not
oblivious to heights. As a climber, you
cannot afford to suffer from vertigo or a
lapse of judgment. Specialist equipment such
as ropes is often used to protect climbers
from falls.

Physical
Requirements
|
|
Physical
requirements for rock climbing can
differ from person to person. In fact,
it is your state of mind that decides
your physical capabilities more than
anything else. Increasing levels of
difficulty may require greater level
of physical fitness and greater
flexibility in your body than under a
lesser difficulty level. Nevertheless,
there are some minimum health
requirements that must be met before
you set out for rock climbing. A few
of these are: 1) you should not be an
expectant mother; 2) you should not
have high blood pressure or any heart
problems; and 3) if you have permanent
physical disabilities, you will have
to work harder.

Manali :- The
area around Manali presently forms the core
of mountaineering in Himachal. The Beas Kund
region and lower reaches of the Hanuman
Tibba (5,930m), the Manali and Shitidhar
peaks around the source of the river Beas,
and the Deo Tibba (6,001m) area, are
suggested for beginners with some
experience. Situated at the northern end of
the kullu valley, Manali has spectacular
views of snowcapped peaks and is Surrounded
by towering peaks from all around. Manali's
major asset is its proximity to the
snowline. It has a flourishing orchard
industry, a popular honeymoon destination
and trailhead for numerous treks as well as
a great countryside ideal for adventure
sport lovers.
Season
:- While
the mountaineering season tends to be
concentrated around the April-November
period, a number of climbs are also
attempted in winter (December-March) which,
though much colder, allows for clearer
climbing days.
