Saranda is located in the West Shingbhum district of Jharkhand state with an area of 858.82 sq.Km. It is primarily known for best Sal forests in the world. Here the nature rules supreme and it is the home.

Toybo Falls 

 

At a distance of 20 kms from Tholkabad, it is an exciting waterfall, in which water of Koel and Karo rivers after merging at Manoharpur proceed ahead and gushes down from a height of 100 feet. On the downstream one can catch a glimpse of wild elephants, which regularly visit the place to quench their thirst.

One gets a very close look of the hills and hillocks of Saranda from this place, which is 10 kms from Tholkobad. The wilderness of woods, the expanded and erected hillocks of Saranda transport the onlooker to a mystic world of nature.

Dalma Sanctuary 

Lying in the catch area of Subaranarekha River and adjoining Purolia District of West Bengal, This wildlife sanctuary with an area of 193.22 sq km. on the National Highway No. 33 near Jamshedpur, has undulating terrain with high hillocks, plateau, deep valley and opened fields between hillocks, providing diverse habitats for Flora & Fauna. The forests here are mostly dry mixed deciduous with few dry peninsular Sal areas.

The Sanctuary is very much favored by the elephants, which are commonly sighted here. Leopards, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer, Sloth Bear, Monkey, and Giant Squirrel are also abundant here.

Saranda is well connected to Ranchi and Jamshedpur by road via Chaibasa, Which is 140 kms from Ranchi & 60 kms from Jamshedpur. One can reach Saranda via Jhinkpani, Gamria, Badajamda and then to Baraiburu - Total distance about 80 kms. Kiriburu is 30 kms from Baraiburu important FRH’s are at Chaibasa, Kiriburu, Baraiburu, Goelkera Sonua, Sameej, Manohorpur & Anandpur.
