Sariska
is located in the sharp cliffs of hills and narrow
vallleys of the Aravallis some 20 km from Delhi. The
forests are dry and deciduous. Within the sanctuary
there are the ruins of medieval buildings. There is
a 17th century castle on a sharp at Kankwari, which
provides a panoramic view of line Egyptian vultures
and eagles. The
sanctuary a covers an area of 800 sq-km. It is a
tiger reserve and you can see ungulates in large
numbers and the birdlife is very good and varied.

The
Sariska park is home to numerous carnivores
including Leopard, Wild Dog, Jungle Cat,
Hyena, Jackal and Tiger. These feed on and
abundance of prey species such as Sambar,
Chaatal, Nilghai, Chausingha, Wild Boar and
Langur. Sariska is also well known for its
large population of Rhesus Monkeys, which are
found in large numbers around Talvriksh.
The avain world is also well represented with
rich and varied bird life. These include
Peafowl Gray Partridge, Bush Quail, Sand
Grouse, Tree Pie, Golden backed wood pecker,
Crested Serpent Eagle and the Great Indian
Home Owl.

of Alwar. This place built by the Maharajas of
Alwar, has now been converted into a hotel.
